Frys-IX: Internet Exchange with Frysian roots
In Feb’21, Arend made plans to offer some colocation at NIKHEF in Amsterdam.
The idea quickly came up to provide a possibility to exchange mutual traffic, and when discussing these plans with Pim, we decided to work together to set up an internet exchange.
Arend was born and raised in Friesland, a province in the north of the Netherlands. His native language is Frisian, or, as we call it: Frysk. As a word play on this heritage, we chose the name [Frys-IX].
We both value the community highly and like to cause a bit of commotion every now and then, so with the help of a few hardware and rackspace friends, we have decided to offer all ports for free.o
We are very proud of you, our community, and we strongly believe that community and collaboration is what gives Frys-IX a solid foundation. Thank you for this!
Respectfully,
- Arend and Pim (Frys-IX admins)
